It takes just minutes to change a person’s entire week.

Smile on seniors is a unique program, created to enhance the lives of local seniors.

On a weekly basis or upon request, volunteers visit people who are homebound or in retirement homes in the  Denver area to bring joy and good memories from days gone by.

A prolonged visit to the hospital is a sobering experience: things taken for granted are suddenly scarce, and patients almost always find themselves reevaluating their life's priorities. There is often no better time for compassionate guidance and support, and the representatives of WCRJ supply it in ample measure.WCRJ staff bring Challah or flowers before Shabbat, good cheer, holiday spirit and hope to the Jewish patients they visit in their rounds to area places of healing.

Smile On Seniors is a unique volunteer program, created to enhance the lives of local seniors. Many of us have parents or family who are seniors, living alone or in senior facilities, that would greatly benefit from an extra visit from someone who isn't family. Family can not always visit as often as desired, and not always is there someone else to supplement those visits. Holiday times get especially lonely.

And that's where Smile On Seniors steps in.

Volunteers

SOS volunteers, comprised of all ages, are assigned “Buddies.”  Volunteers gain from the wisdom and invaluable experience of a life time. The reward that comes with people sharing deep and meaningful feelings or simply holding a hand or lending an ear in a lonely moment. These are the special moments in life that enrich both the volunteer and the senior.

The Smile on Seniors program also will be doing individual holiday events in Assisted Living Centers
