Bar Mitzvah Academy is an 8 month program for 11-13 year old boys to prepare them for their Bar Mitzvah. This monthly program will enable your child’s Bar Mitzvah to take on new significance and meaning.
Preparing for a Bar Mitzvah can be stressful, but these classes will guide your child how to properly prepare for this great occasion and provide the Bar Mitzvah boy with a year of memorable experiences while soaking in Jewish fundamentals and values.
At the Bar Mitzvah Academy, your boy will gain a deep appreciation and pride in their Jewish identity and heritage.
Our Bar Mitzvah boys is visited by an authentic scribe, an Israeli soldier with a Krav Maga session, hears from a holocaust survivor, learns what it means to be a Bar Mitzvah, how to get called up to the Torah, volunteer for the needy, enjoy a spirited Family Shabbat dinner, and culminate the year with a festive family brunch.

Our course is an 8 month program that commences in October and concludes in May.
Bar Mitzvah Academy one time fee: $540 per child.
The Bar Mitzvah Club fee includes all 7 lessons, course material, supplies, trips, restaurant outings, outside instructors, family Shabbat dinner and family brunch.
It does not include potential private Bar Mitzvah lessons, officiating ceremony or Bar Mitzvah administrative expenses.

- October 29, 2023 – Start of Bar Mitzvah Academy- The core! Bar Mitzvah/Adulthood-what does it mean? Boys will gain a deep understanding and appreciation for what it means to become Bar Mitzvah through exploring what a Neshamah is, and the meaning behind the Mitzvot connected to Bar Mitzvah with the responsibilities and beautiful privileges it comes with. It will allow the boys to comprehend their place in the world and inspire them with purpose as young Jewish men.
- November 19, 2023 - Mitzvot of Bar Mitzvah Tefillin + Kippah + Tzitzit with Guest presenter Scribe/Sofer. Learn how to put on Tefillin with Rabbi Mendy. The Boys are given a rare opportunity to meet the scribe – a Rabbi who writes Torah, Tefillin and Mezuzot. The scribe will demonstrate the unique and lengthy process that goes into making the Tefillin giving the boys a greater appreciation for the Tefillin they have. The boys will also be given the opportunity to write with the scribe’s feather on parchment.
- December 17, 2023 - Visit from a IDF Soldier and Krav Maga session Life skills & the Torah’s approach and advice. . Boys will learn an array of life skills that are all rooted in Judaism, these lessons we hope will help equip them during their teenage years. Some of the topics include - Bullying, cheating, embarrassing others, respect, relationships, free choice, when we’re responsible to help or stand up for others and more. A high energy session that’s loved by the boys and their parents, a Krav Mega training and safety session.
- January 12, 2024 - Family Shabbat dinner- An unforgettable Family Gathering
- January 21, 2024- Torah + Tallit + How to have an Aliyah + Exploring the synagogue. Trip to a Kosher restaurant.
- February 11, 2024 - Guest presenter Denver Police- Civics & Jewish Law. Am I really considered an adult? A session that captivates and is enjoyed by every 13-year-old, a talk from the Denver police Department! The talk is followed by a discussion comparing secular ethics/law to Jewish ethics/Law in the area of responsibilities and duty to others. Boys and parents are left fascinated when they discover that secular law revolves around a person’s rights being protected, while Torah law not only includes a person’s rights, but charges a person with the duty to help others, bringing out the Torah's values on compassion, unity and sanctity of life.
- March 10, 2024 - Generation to Generation. Holocaust survivor and Trip to the Babi Yar Park. Boys are given the honor to meet and talk with holocaust survivors. Each boy is given a bracelet with an engraved name of a victim who never had the opportunity to celebrate their Bar Mitzvah. The boys have the choice to research the person they were given and keep their memory alive during their Bar Mitzvah journey.
